The Boate Family
In 1845, this land was set apart from all profane and common use for the purposes of building an Anglican church and creating a cemetery for the people of Emily Township. This memorial contains stones marking the burial of 14 souls. There are 19 more unnamed souls known only to God buried on this land. In gathering these memorial stones together, it has been the intention of the congregation of St. James Emily to remind residents and visitors to this area that herein lie the burial place for 33 souls. This ceased to be an active cemetery in 1956.
Almighty God, hear our prayers as we dedicate this Cemetery Memorial to mark the burial place for those known and those unknown to us. Accept, we pray, this offering of our hands, and by the power of your blessing, set it apart from all profane and common use. May this memorial mark, for all who gaze upon it, a place of rest and hope. May this memorial and the grounds beyond it, be a sign of comfort to the living and a sign of our hope of eternal life. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord. AMEN
